This question was asked of the UK government today in the House of Lords by Lord Sarfraz:
To ask Her Majesty’s Government what assessment they have made of the report by the United States Office of the Director of National Intelligence Preliminary Assessment: Unidentified Aerial Phenomena, published on 25 June; and what data they hold on unidentified flying object sightings in the United Kingdom.
Baroness Goldie responded on behalf of the government. There was a bit of back and forth but the government’s stance on the matter was perhaps best summed up by Baroness Goldie’s final words on the matter:
…we have no opinion on the existence of extraterrestrial life and we no longer investigate reports of sightings of unidentified aerial phenomena. We have no plans to conduct our own report into UAP, because in over 50 years no such reporting has indicated the existence of any military threat to the UK.
